A recent gift from Lawrence “Larry” N. Barshay ’91 has established the Lawrence N. Barshay Scholarship Fund, providing scholarship support to NYU Law students.
“The incredible experiences I had as a student at NYU Law were instrumental to me as I launched my career,” says Barshay, who is a corporate partner in the New York office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. “It’s wonderful to be able to give back to this institution and to help a new generation of law students pursue their aspirations.”
Barshay, a Law School trustee, is the founder and head of Fried Frank’s Asset Management Practice, specializing in the structuring and representation of investment funds and other alternative investments.
He represents major financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, funds-of-funds, and investment management companies; Barshay’s clients include Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, Bank of New York, the D. E. Shaw Group, Citadel LLC, and Point 72. Barshay graduated from Columbia College in 1988 before attending the Law School.
