A gift from Robert “Bob” C. Kopple LLM ’68 has endowed a new chair for a tenured faculty member in NYU Law’s Graduate Tax Program.
Lily Batchelder, the first Robert C. Kopple Family Professor of Law, gave the chair’s inaugural lecture in September 2019.
“I am delighted to support NYU Law and its tax program,” said Kopple. “The teaching and scholarship of the tax faculty were an invaluable resource for me as I started my career. It’s my intention to help the Law School maintain and build upon that tradition of excellence.”
Kopple, who has specialized in estate planning, taxation, and business law throughout his career, co-founded the firm Kopple, Klinger & Elbaz in Los Angeles in 1992. His practice focuses on assisting clients with complex estate and gift tax issues and issues arising from the transfer of family wealth and family businesses.
The co-author of Taxation of the Motion Picture Industry, Kopple has published articles in Journal of Taxation, the Proceedings of the New York University Tax Institute, and elsewhere, and he has lectured on taxation at the New York University Tax Institute, the University of Southern California Tax Institute, the Practicing Law Institute, among many other forums.
