JSD students and candidates are offered state-of-the-art work spaces in a newly renovated building facing Washington Square Park. During the 2008-09 academic year, a historic brownstone located at 22 Washington Square North underwent a thorough redesign in preparation for its new role as home to the JSD Program, as well as the Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice. Every first through fourth year JSD student and candidate is provided with a work area in 22 Washington Square North, which opened in September 2009. The integration of doctoral students within a space dedicated exclusively to scholarship is one of the cornerstones of the JSD experience at NYU School of Law.
