PUBLIC INTEREST LAW CENTER

Moelis Urban Law & Public Affairs Fellowship

We are excited to announce the launch of the Moelis Urban Law & Public Affairs Fellowship Program at NYU School of Law.  1Ls are invited to apply to join the next class of Moelis Fellows. Created by NYU Law alumnus and Trustee Ron Moelis (’82), the mission of the Moelis Fellowship Program is to cultivate a group of NYU Law students who will develop the skills needed to forge public-private partnerships that advance investment in and development of urban communities. To that end, the Fellowship will capitalize on the vast opportunities offered by both the Law School and New York City as a lab for innovation in today’s cities.  Moelis Fellows will have a wide range of opportunities—including internships, mentoring and special programming—to learn about how they can advance the development of urban communities.

The Fellowship Program

Moelis Fellows will gain access to a range of experience across the non-profit , government, and private sectors through:

  1. a summer internship working for a non-profit organization, government agency, or private entity in a major urban center,  that focuses on community development and/or investment consistent with the mission of the Fellowship ;
  2. a term-time internship at a relevant non-profit organization, government agency, or business organization;
  3. a one-semester position as a Research Assistant at the NYU Furman Center; and
  4. participation in the “Land Use, Housing and Community Development in New York City Seminar” (or other law school course that is aligned with the student’s interests and consistent with the focus of the Moelis Fellowship).

Three fellows will be selected from the 1L class. Each will receive $10,000 for their 1L summer internship, $4,000 for their work as a Research Assistant at the NYU Furman Center, and $5,000 for their term-time internship at a non-profit, government, or business organization.
