Overview of the LLM Career Curriculum

July

  • Incoming students receive information from the Office of Career Services regarding preparing a resume for review and other job search preparation tips.
  • Incoming students submit an updated resume for review and feedback.

August-September

  • Students receive their CSM username and password to begin accessing job listings, job search resources, and the OCS events calendar. 
  • The OCS hosts in-depth job search workshops targeted to Tax and Foreign-Trained LLM students. Students may begin setting up one-on-one career counseling appointments after attending a job search workshop. Non-Tax, US-Trained LLM students may schedule one-on-one appointments once classes begin.
  • The Fall On-Campus Interview Program for Tax/International Tax LLM students begins in September and runs through November.
  • Tax LLM students apply for opportunities with the federal government, including the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, Department of Justice Tax Division, and US Tax Court Clerkships.  
  • The OCS hosts a tax careers speaker series featuring alumni of the Tax and International Tax LLM programs in a range of tax practices and practice settings.

October

  • The OCS hosts a panel and networking reception of for Foreign-Trained LLM attorneys and featuring Foreign-Trained LLM graduates and employers of Foreign-Trained LLM students to kick off the LLM job search and speak about global career opportunities.
  • Foreign-Trained LLM students submit their resumes and employer selections for the January International Student Interview Program.
  • Foreign-Trained LLM students submit their resumes and employer selections for the January International Student Interview Program.
  • The OCS will provide an interviewing skills webinar.

November-December

  • The OCS organizes a Practice Interview Program for all LLM students to match students one-on-one with LLM graduates for interview preparation in advance of the spring recruiting season.

January

  • The International Student Interview Program, which provides law students from 33 schools with the opportunity to apply to over 160 employers from around the world, takes place at the end of the month.
  • The Spring On-Campus Interview Program for Tax LLM students begins in January and runs through March.

February

  • The LLM Leaders Speaker series, (in person and online) featuring LLM alumni discussing their career paths in specific areas of the law, begins.
  • The Taxation Interview Program (TIP) takes place in Washington, DC. 

March-April

  • Counselors from the OCS present a post-graduation job search webinar.
