The NYU Law Venture Fund, formed to empower student and alumni entrepreneurs, offers three types of support to NYU Law students and alumni: the summer grant program, summer internships that will allow students to work at start-ups, and a seed-stage investment fund. The Fund began accepting applications for equity investments on September 1: students and alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years are eligible to apply for funding.
Law School Trustee Robert Gold ’84, president and chief executive officer of Ridgewood Capital and a member of the Venture Fund advisory jury, emphasizes the synergies that the Venture Fund will create. “There are so many opportunities for our students and our graduates to work in the venture capital, entrepreneurship, and tech spaces now in New York,” he says. “Any involvement that they have like this will be very helpful for them as they think about careers.”
