Starting Friday, April 21, NYU Law welcomed alumni back for Reunion 2023. Celebrating the classes of 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018, and Golden Circle alumni, Reunion weekend offered a rich array of social and academic events at which alumni could reconnect with old friends and renew their ties to the Law School.
Multiple receptions kicked off the weekend on Friday evening, with gatherings of tax alumni, Law Review alumni, international alumni, and public service alumni and Law Alumni of Color Association members, followed by an all-alumni reception in Greenberg Lounge.
On Saturday, faculty members led virtual classes offering New York State CLE credit. Stephen Gillers ’68, Elihu Root Professor of Law Emeritus, taught a class on ethics rules and other strategies to guard the integrity of the US Justice Department from presidential overreach. Vice Dean Randy Hertz, Fiorello LaGuardia Professor of Clinical Law, examined state courts’ use of state constitutions to expand the rights of criminal defendants beyond the protections recognized by the US Supreme Court.

The weekend finished with a Law Alumni Association Sunday Brunch at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, where Dean Troy McKenzie ’00 delivered his first state of the Law School address.
