Angela Libby ’11, Steven Steinman ’93, and Jennifer Wu ’04 joined NYU Law’s Board of Trustees at the Board’s annual meeting in October. The new trustees bring varied backgrounds and expertise to a Board whose breadth of experience reflects the diverse paths taken by the Law School’s alumni.
A partner in Davis Polk & Wardwell’s restructuring department, Libby advises debtors, creditors, banks, hedge funds, and other clients on a wide range of restructuring issues. Her high-profile clients have included Lynch Commodities, the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico, and JW Aluminum. In 2023, The Deal ranked her among the “Top Women in Dealmaking,” and in 2021 she was named a “Rising Star” by Law360. At the Law School, Libby was an AnBryce Scholar.
In his 30 years at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver, & Jacobson, Steinman has focused his practice on representing financial sponsors and public and private companies in acquisition, disposition, joint venture and minority investment transactions. He is a partner in the mergers and acquisitions and private equity department, where he serves as co-head of the private equity transactions practice.
A founding partner at patent litigation firm Groombridge, Wu, Baughman & Stone, Wu specializes in leading biologics cases. Wu is also known for her pro bono efforts representing victims of anti-Asian hate crimes. For this work, she received the New York Law Journal’s Diversity Initiative Award in 2022. She serves on the advisory board for NYU Law’s Law Alumni of Color Association and co-chairs the Asian American Bar Association’s Women’s Committee, among other board memberships. Before co-founding her firm, Wu spent a decade at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where she made partner in 2015.
