2025 Law Revue pays homage to beloved Pixar film in Rata12(b)(2)ie

In performances April 3–5, NYU Law’s annual Law Revue presented Rata12(b)(2)ie, a satirical story of a New York City rat who wants to go to law school.

The performance parodied the story of Remy the Rat and human chef Alfredo Linguini in the 2007 Disney Pixar animated film Ratatouille. In the Law Revue version, In Remy (Jeremy Venook ’26), a rat who dreams of becoming a lawyer, meets Tort Ellini (Charlie Driver ’26), a 1L student at NYU Law who feels hapless in his new environment. When Tort is mistakenly assigned to do clinic work, he–and In Remy–are paired with Clausette (Julia Bergel ’27) to represent the fictional New York Council of the Rat Czar (NYCORC) and its commissioner (Michelle Slezinger ’25). Learning that NYCORC plans to eradicate all of the rats in New York City, In Remy uses his lawyering skills to fight back, with assistance from Tort. Original songs included “Stick to the Ratus Quo” and “A Whole New Trial.”

The performance was co-directed by Sanjana Saxena ’25, Morgan Munroe ’26, Max Nobel ’25, Larry Cai ’25, Kayla McRae ’26, Max Miller ’25, and Shelby Hobohm ’27. The performance’s head writer was Katie Hieatt ’25.

The performance also featured guest appearances from Professor Daniel Hemel and Kathleen Corradi, the first director of rodent mitigation for New York City, in pre-filmed videos shown before the actors appeared onstage.
