Panelists at the February 23 NYU Law Forum took on the subject of climate change litigation. Given that hopes for climate legislation from Congress are dead, at least for now, the discussion focused on whether lawsuits might be able to drive a climate-protection agenda forward. Panelists included Ina Ebert, a senior counsel at insurer Munich Re, Lisa Heinzerling, a professor at Georgetown University Law Center, and Douglas Kysar, a professor at Yale Law School who is currently visiting NYU Law. The moderator was Richard Stewart, University Professor and John Edward Sexton Professor of Law.
