Ingrid Gould Ellen, associate professor of public policy and urban planning at NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and codirector of the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy, is one of six professors University-wide to receive a 2008-09 Distinguished Teaching Award. The award, which recognizes excellence in teaching and substantial contribution to the University's intellectual life, includes a medal and a $5,000 stipend. Ellen's research interests encompass urban social and economic policy, with a focus on housing and community development. Before coming to NYU, Ellen was a visitor at the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, and worked for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
