NYU Law Dean's Graduate Scholar
What is your favorite part about being a NYU Law student?
Being a law student at NYU has been a wholesome experience, so I will name two favorites. First, I love the diverse community in the LLM program. I am working on my LLM in Corporation Law, and it has been interesting meeting people from various regions with different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and learning about their cultures. It is even more exciting learning about their career trajectory and past achievements before coming to graduate school. Second, I love the career development opportunities NYU School of Law provides to LLM students. The Office of Career Services provides tremendous support to LLM students in navigating the job search process. The awesome people there deserve accolades for the fantastic work they do.
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of the classroom?
I enjoy talking with teenagers and young adults to encourage and enhance their self-awareness, transform their minds and set fulfilling career and life goals. I currently volunteer at my local church where I coach and mentor 13- to 17-year-olds to help them take control of their lives and future from a young age. I love to teach them that the choice to succeed is theirs by sharing my favorite, famous quote, “whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right.” When I am not having fun teaching and learning with the teens, I binge-watch TV shows.
What has been your favorite law school class so far?
Negotiating Complex Transactions with Professor Seth Freeman from the Business School has been my favorite so far. The class was different from the conventional law school class, as the concepts taught, and lessons learned could be deployed in other areas of life outside the legal career. The class discussions were both meaningful and fun, and the lessons learned would stay with me for the rest of my life.
Do you have a favorite podcast that you’d like to recommend?
I enjoy listening to Jay Shetty’s podcast titled “On Purpose." He has deep, thoughtful conversations with invited guests on various life topics. I particularly enjoyed the chat with Rachel Hollis on “The Courage to Make Mistakes & How to Stay Motivated in Difficult Times.”
