Public Interest Opportunities with Early Applcation Deadlines

It is important to note that some public interest positions have deadlines in late August or early in the Fall Semester. We know it seems early but you may need to start working on applications over the summer if you wish to apply for these.

  • Fellowships with Non-Profits: “Project fellowships” such as the Skadden Fellowship and Equal Justice Works Fellowship require applicants to secure a sponsoring non-profit organization and develop proposals over the summer. Skadden Fellowships are primarily for domestic public interest work in the US but may be available for public interest work in cities where Skadden Arps has offices (including London and Paris) as long as fellows have work authorization in those countries. Equal Justice Works Fellowships are only for domestic public interest work in the US. Prior relevant public interest experience is required for these fellowships.
  • UN Young Professionals Program: The UN Young Professionals Program is an annual recruiting process. The deadlines are usually in mid to late August. For information about the UN Young Professionals Program including a list of eligible nationalities, see careers.un.org/YPP.

If you are interested in pursuing these early opportunities before you arrive at NYU, you are welcome to make an appointment with a PILC counselor in June or July by contacting pilc.info@nyu.edu so we can advise you on the process. Once you arrive on campus, we will hold an information session on broader public interest opportunities for LLMs.
