This event is not open to the public.

Substantial Performance, NYU Law’s AMAZING student a cappella group, will be holding virtual auditions for new members through Sunday, September 13th.

Membership in Substantial Performance is a low time commitment and is open to all current members of the law school including LLMs. We perform a mixture of jazz, pop, oldies, doo-wop, and choral music, and try our best to sing more than just typical a cappella repertoire. This semester all rehearsals will be conducted remotely, with the goal of prerecording several songs to feature in an end-of-semester event.

We are looking for 1-2 new people on each voice part and want you (yes YOU) to audition! We highly encourage all law students (regardless of class year) to consider joining us. Formal training and/or prior a cappella/choral experience are NOT required and our audition process is very low-stress. Our members have a range of different musical backgrounds and experience levels. If you enjoy singing, please consider auditioning!

To audition, all you have to do is fill out this form and include a video of yourself singing scales, a song of your choice, and part of a song we'll give you to learn (included in the form). You have until midnight on Sunday, September 13th to submit your audition.
