Solitary Confinement Project Introductory Meeting and Training
The Solitary Confinement Project is a project of the student group, Ending the Prison Industrial Complex (EPIC). As a member of the Solitary Confinement Project, you will conduct interviews with people in solitary confinement in NYC jails (mostly Rikers) and draft their testimony to present to the Board of Corrections. These interviews are primarily occurring through video calls, but an in-person option may be available soon.
The Solitary Confinement Project is having our first introductory meeting and training on Wednesday, September 22, from 6:00-7:00pm. Please RSVP here! Attendance is mandatory for this first meeting if you would like to be a part of the project in the future. This training will be remote, as it will include the Director of Criminal Justice Advocacy of the Urban Justice Center, through whom we receive our client referrals. If you cannot attend, please let us know, and we will work on an accommodation with you.
