SAFER (Student Advocates for Empowerment through Harm Reduction)'s first orientation meeting! SAFER is a student organization at NYU School of Law that seeks to align legal practice with harm reduction and serve members of our community most affected by the War on Drugs and by drug use. We work on-site at local harm reduction organizations, like VOCAL-NY, to connect people who use drugs with services and referrals. VOCAL-NY is a grassroots organization that offers a drop in-center with sterile equipment for safe use and overdose prevention services. SAFER organizes, educates, and advocates for harm reduction and drug decriminalization.

We will be partnering with Legal Action Center this year to protect the rights and autonomy of people who use drugs in New York, and representatives from LAC will join us for this orientation.
