The NYU Environmental Law Journal is pleased to invite you to participate in our annual symposium. This year’s theme explores the intersection of environmental law and the use of state force domestically and internationally, specifically examining the role of environmental law in the context of mass warfare and systemic incarceration.

The symposium will focus on movements such as Renewable Rikers and Stop Cop City, and analyze their impact on environmental justice. Additionally, we will explore the influence of international environmental law within the context of armed conflict, examining the ways in which global legal frameworks engage with state violence and environmental harm.
