Rising Tide / NYU Small Business Legal Training

6:00–7:30 p.m.
Vanderbilt Hall, Smart Classroom 206
40 Washington Square South NY ,10012 (view map)

NYU Law’s Social Enterprise & Startup Law Group (SE-SL) is partnering with Lowenstein Sandler attorneys to host a virtual training for student members of the group and those interested in applying for the Rising Tide Program. In the first hour, participants will learn about legal issues that frequently arise for small business clients, including entity selection, intellectual property protection, contract drafting, and employment law/employee benefits.

Immediately following the training, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to rotate through break out rooms to ask the presenters questions relating to the attorneys’ areas of legal expertise.

This training is a precursor to the Spring Legal Advice Program, which will be accepting NYU Law student volunteers. In the program, NYU legal volunteers will work alongside Lowenstein Sandler attorneys to provide Rising Tide Capital clients and alumni with legal assistance on matters ranging from entity selection and formation, corporate governance, intellectual property advice and registration, doing business online (e.g., website privacy and terms of use policies), commercial leases, employee and independent contractor agreements, and other contract drafting and review matters. The link to request assistance will be circulated after the training and will remain live through the end of the year.
