This event has passed.

Join a virtual conversation with a team of legal scholars, policy advocates, and computer scientists to explore a new direction for AI-informed decision-making to advocate for justice.

In recent years, advocates and scholars have exposed how the explosive growth of AI-driven technology and automated decision-making in the criminal legal system, including predictive algorithms such as risk assessment instruments, contribute to systemic racial bias and unjust outcomes

We will explore how some scholars and advocates are using machine learning to review and evaluate thousands of California parole hearing transcripts to identify patterns of systemic bias and errors in human decision-making and advocate for policy reform.
