6:00–8:00 p.m.

This event has passed.

Over the course of a year, PRIMERA chronicles the social uprising that evolved into a nation-wide movement, beginning with the student takeover of Santiago’s metro system and ending with the historic plebiscite that paved the way for the writing of a new constitution. The film offers an immersive look at the year-long process through the experiences of everyday Chileans who were affected by the violent police repression at the start of the social uprising.

Join us for an in-person free film screening of PRIMERA, a 2021 documentary that follows Chile's revolutionary path towards creating a new constitution.

After the screening, hear from Vee Bravo, the film's producer and director, in a Q&A moderated by Andrew Friedman (Executive Director the Intiative for Community Power, NYU School of Law). This event will take place at the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts NYU. This event is made possible by the Urban Democracy Lab at NYU Gallatin, the Initiative for Community Power at NYU School of Law, and the Action Lab.
