Paper Trails: Business and Financial Crimes (Annual Survey of American Law)
Annual Survey of American Law invites you to join us for our 2023 symposium: "Paper Trails: Business and Financial Crimes." It will be on Friday, March 24 from 10:30am-3:00pm in Lipton Hall (in D'Agostino Hall).
The day's programming will consist of three panels, featuring acaedmics and practitioners currently working on cutting-edge issues in corporate (ir)responsibility and the law. The first panel, “The Fall of Enron,” will center around a discussion of the Enron scandal, focusing particularly on the state of securities law prior to the event and the effect that the Enron collapse had in shaping the current legal landscape. The second panel, “Drawing Blood: Theranos’s Future,” will examine the recent Theranos litigation, with primary focus on the ways in which the technological particulars of this scandal might catalyze further refinements of securities law and the regulatory landscape. The third panel, “Adaptation in the Information Age,” will feature a discussion of white-collar enforcement and the challenges presented in regulating a world of business that is being constantly shaped by the Internet and misinformation.
