NYU Law Review / DCFL Symposium: Gun Rights and Regulation after Bruen
This event is not open to the public.
The Supreme Court’s decision in Bruen marked a fundamental shift in Second Amendment law, announcing a new methodology focused on historical tradition. The symposium will discuss Bruen’s new legal test, ways in which Bruen can be turned into practical legal doctrine to guide lower courts, and consequences for self-defense and criminal law. The keynote discussion, featuring Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie, and Steven Wu, Chief of Appeals for the Manhattan DA’s Office, will focus on criminal justice and prosecutorial discretion in the aftermath of Bruen. We have assembled a tremendous group of scholars and commentators (listed below) who will provide important perspectives on the path forward after Bruen.
The event will be live-streamed via Zoom, and you can register to watch here. This event will only be physically open to a limited number of NYU Law students and faculty on NYU's campus. If you are interested in attending in person, please sign up using this form as soon as possible for further details.
