Legal Frameworks for Addressing Racial Disparities in Housing

Date: Thursday, April 28, 2022
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM ET

Please register by clicking this link.

Cities around the country are working to address racial disparities in housing and to redress the harms of housing discrimination. In doing so, they must navigate complex and evolving legal frameworks, including the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection and the federal Fair Housing Act. This virtual event will provide an overview of these frameworks for a non-legal audience, explore how they affect local policymaking, and highlight cities' approaches to navigating their legal landscapes.

Panelists:
Olatunde C. Johnson, Jerome B. Sherman Professor of Law, Columbia Law School
Kristin Maun, Director of Housing Development and Incentives, Tulsa Authority for Economic Opportunity
Greg Miao, Senior Attorney, ChangeLab Solutions

Moderator: Sophie House, Director of Law and Policy, Housing Solutions Lab at NYU Furman Center
