My Name is Pauli Murray: Film Screening and Talkback

Please join the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network, the Law Alumni of Color Association, the Black Allied Law Students AssociationIf/When/How: Lawyering Reproductive Justice, OUTLaw, and the Women of Color Collective for a screening of My Name is Pauli Murray (2021). The documentary, directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, tells the story of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, the non-binary Black attorney, activist, poet, and priest whose ideas influenced Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Thurgood Marshall.

The screening will be followed by a talkback with co-director Julie Cohen and Dr. Brittney Cooper, with introductory remarks by Professor Melissa Murray. Audience questions may be submitted on the registration page for consideration during the discussion.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: To view the film, attendees must have an active Amazon Prime account (or use a 30-day trial) and view from a computer. The BWLN will host an Amazon Watch Party for the first 99 sign-ups and direct all other attendees to watch the film on their own via Amazon Prime. Corresponding links will be sent on the day of the event. Attendees will then gather back on Zoom for the talkback.
