Marden Competition: Final Round

On behalf of the Marden Moot Court Board, we are pleased to invite you to the annual Marden Competition: Final Round on Wednesday, March 29, at 5:00 p.m., in Tishman Auditorium.

Judge Patricia A. Millett (District of Columbia Circuit), Judge Jill A. Pryor (Eleventh Circuit), and Judge Amy J. St. Eve (Seventh Circuit) will preside.

In the case in question, the United States seeks to enforce the prison mailbox rule against an incarcerated person named Paul Young, in response to his filing of a claim against prison officials under the Federal Torts Claims Act ("FTCA"). The contested issues that students will be arguing are (1) whether the prison mailbox rule applies to claims brought under the FTCA, and (2) whether a filing by a represented incarcerated litigant is governed by the prison mailbox rule.
