Elections in a Time of Coronavirus

Wednesday, April 22, 2020, 12:45-2:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada), via Zoom

With coronavirus pervasive in the population, how and when should Americans vote? Earlier this month, conservative majorities on the US Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Wisconsin rejected efforts by Democrats who, citing concerns about the pandemic, wanted to extend or defer voting in the state. What does this presage for the US general election in November? Is democracy better served by adhering to election timetables and procedures, or by flexible adaptation in times of crisis? With coronavirus-related election concerns mirroring the larger debate in this country about more or less expansive access to the ballot, are there any truly nonpartisan solutions?  At this Forum, presented through Zoom, an all-NYU Law panel of experts on law and democracy will discuss these issues and others.
