Justice Power: Tech Innovation
The Robert and Helen Bernstein Institute for Human Rights invite you to a virtual Teach-in on Tech Innovation with leading immigrant rights organizations this Thursday, January 21st at 2pm EST. To register click here.
The conversation will feature Justice Power members: Immigration Advocates Network, Innovation Law Lab, and Villanova University. Tech innovations are creating a new generation of tools to build agency, knowledge, and community for immigrants in the United States despite geographic separation. These tools are rooted in legal empowerment and empower directly impacted communities to know, use, shape, and transform the laws that impact their lives. Panelists from Innovation Law Lab, Villanova University and Immigration Advocates Network will share insights on developing online tech tools that increase access to essential resources and legal support for immigrants. The teach-in will highlight Law Lab’s online Immigration Court Watch tool; VIISTA, a three-module online certificate program which trains people to become Department of Justice accredited representatives; and IAN websites that connect immigrants to legal resources tailored to their lived realities.
Join us to learn how community members, organizers, and attorneys are working together to advance grassroots justice during the digital age.
Panelists include:
Michele Pistone, Professor of Law, Villanova University, and Founding Faculty Director, VIISTA: Villanova Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates
Ariel Prado, Defend Asylum Program Director, Innovation Law Lab; and
Pat Malone, Associate & Legal Director, Immigration Advocates Network (IAN)
The webinar is part of the Justice Power’s teach-in series on legal empowerment. Justice Power is convened by the Bernstein Institute for Human Rights and uplifts the work of immigration organizations who partner with communities to know, use, shape, and transform the laws that impact their lives.
