Jen is a 2000 graduate of New York University School of Law and has over 25 years of experience in business and legal roles in some of the most intense corporate environments. Her career has been focused on navigating complex and important situations to the best possible outcomes, including addressing novel legal issues. She has hired, managed and retained a diverse and global team.
For the past six years, Jen has been the lead attorney at WeWork, where she also served in senior operational roles during the scaling of the business. She had oversight of general legal matters, including international expansion to approximately 40 countries, acquisitions and dispositions of multiple businesses, standardization of the real estate transaction process, and proactive and defensive intellectual property strategy. Jen led many notable matters, including transactions with Softbank for over $10 billion, responses to regulatory inquiries, and a landmark deal with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). In her operational roles, Jen led and managed teams located throughout the world (on six continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia). At various times, she oversaw strategic planning, strategic partnerships, public affairs, strategic events, corporate technology and human resources.
Prior to joining WeWork, Jen was a partner at WilmerHale, where she was the head of the New York emerging company practice. She served as outside general counsel to private companies at all stages of development and lead counsel in private company mergers and acquisitions and in public company capital markets offerings. She also was an associate at Covington & Burling and associate general counsel at Longitude, a financial services company that licensed derivatives and risk management technology to investment banks and was ultimately acquired.
Prior to law school, Jen worked in the strategic planning group at American Express and as an associate consultant at The Parthenon Group. Jen graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in December 1993.
Jen enjoys working with entrepreneurs and small businesses. She currently serves as a director on HYPOTHEkids, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing underserved students with hands-on science and engineering educational and mentorship experiences. Jen and her wife started Towpath Trees, a tree farm located in the Hudson Valley with the mission of bringing nature to our neighbors by being a local source for hearty and beautiful trees.
