You will have the opportunity to ask questions to 2Ls and 3Ls on their experiences interning in tech law and their experiences pursuing careers in tech law at NYU, in both public interest and the private sector.
Our panelists will include . . .
Marc Canellas is a 3L who has interned with the family defenders at NDS of Harlem, and the public defenders at the Federal Defenders of New York, Bronx Defenders, and Brooklyn Defender Services, working on science and tech issues ranging from marijuana testing, DNA software, breathalyzers, and the Domain Awareness System. He has also been an RA for Erin Murphy studying the legality of a federal DNA database.
Joanne Dynak is a 3L from Chicago, IL. Her practice interests include transactional IP, cybersecurity, and data privacy. During law school, she has worked as a summer associate at Davis Polk and Cravath, and has interned at Google and the NY Attorney General's Office in the Bureau of Internet and Technology.
Santana Jackson worked at Cravath, Swaine & Moore during her 1L and 2L summer focusing on IP Transactional Work and IP Litigation, respectively. During her 2L year, she served as one of the inaugural student fellows for the Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy. Moreover, during the academic year of 3L she will be doing a legal fellowship with the Policing Project where she will focus on the use of surveillance technology by Law Enforcement Agencies. Lastly, during 3L she will also be participating in the Technology Law & Policy clinic.
Tom McBrien is a 3L interested in how law, technology, and democracy interact. He interned at the Brennan Center for Justice’s Liberty & National Security Project after 1L, and the ACLU’s Project on Speech, Privacy & Technology after 2L. He is also active in Privacy Research Group and participated in NYU’s Tech Law and Policy Clinic.
Neha Mehta is a JD/MBA student at NYU with experience in tech transactions and an interest in cyber/data/privacy issues. She spent her 1L summer at Google, and her 2L summer at Cooley. During 2L, Neha was involved with NYU Law Women and the Technology Law and Policy Clinic and she is now a Student Fellow at the Engelberg Center.
