Fighting Pyschos, Stalkers, Pervs, Trolls and their Tech Patrons: A Discussion with Carrie Goldberg

“We are all a moment away from crossing paths with somebody hell-bent on destroying our life. And with the internet so available as a weapon, it’s never been easier.” After facing an ex-boyfriend who tried to ruin her life and law career, Carrie Golberg decided to become the lawyer she needed and founded the leading victim right’s law firm, C. A. Goldberg, PLLC. She and her team specialize in litigating for targets of online harassment, stalking, blackmail, and sexual assault. As the title of her book, Nobody’s Victim: Fighting Psychos, Stalkers, Pervs & Trolls, highlights there are ways to fight back against tech companies, schools, and powerful sexual predators in the Internet era and Carrie and her team are leading the way.

Speaker Bio: Carrie Goldberg is founder of Victims’ Rights law firm, C. A. Goldberg, PLLC.  The Brooklyn firm does groundbreaking work nationally fighting for targets of sexual violence online and off. Her landmark cases include Herrick v. Grindr which introduced the novel legal approach of applying product liability law to dangerous tech products and K.M. v City of New York which is the highest known recovery in a Title IX case in NYC. Carrie’s well-known work for victims of nonconsensual porn is featured in the documentary, Netizens, and profiled in The New Yorker, Elle, Cosmo, Wired, Glamour and more. Carrie is the author of “Nobody’s Victim: Fighting Psychos, Stalkers, Pervs & Trolls” a 2019 NYT Editor’s Choice.   Carrie attended Vassar College and Brooklyn Law School.
