Family Reunification Project Training (IRP)
40 Washington Square South NY ,10012 (view map)
IRP welcomes all law students to a training for its Family Reunification Project.
The training will be in person with a remote option. While in-person attendance is highly encouraged, the training will be recorded for students who cannot attend.
Family Reunification Project Description:
IRP is partnering with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) to help immigrant families who were separated at the U.S. border. Through this project, law students will help families who have since been reunited to apply for a version of humanitarian parole called Parole in Place (PIP). Parole in Place grants family members a three-year temporary protected status in which they receive work authorization and can take steps toward seeking additional legal relief.
Law students will work in teams on cases identified by KIND. The IRP board, faculty advisor, and KIND attorneys will review the applications before they are submitted. No previous experience is necessary and interpreters will be available.
