Join the Environmental Law Society for the third spring meeting of the Environmental Justice Reading Group on Friday, February 19 at 2pm NY time (Zoom link). We’ll be discussing environmental justice in the context of agriculture, including the treatment of farm workers and the effects of pesticide-heavy farming practices. ELS will circulate some suggested readings later this week, which you'll be able to find on our website.
The EJ Reading Group is a relaxed space to discuss and learn more about some of the major issues at the intersection of law, society, and the environment, particularly in light of the incoming administration’s pledge to pursue environmental justice. Throughout the semester, we’ll meet to discuss environmental justice in connection with areas such as health disparities and the COVID crisis, housing and transportation, and agriculture and animals. We encourage everyone with an interest — even in just a single week’s topic — to attend. No prior knowledge of environmental law is expected, and no reading is necessary! We circulate a variety of suggested readings, videos, and/or podcasts for each session, but the aim is to learn from each other and to encourage new perspectives and new developments.
