BALSA is hosting attorneys from the New York office of Phillips Black, a nationwide, nonprofit public interest law practice focused on death penalty post-conviction litigation. They will present an introduction to their field and hold a Q&A on capital litigation, the work of their organization, and the attorneys’ individual paths to this challenging area of practice. The NYU law faculty has an extraordinary tradition in this area, which this event will consider in addressing questions on the power of the state to take human life and America's legacy in using this punishment.
