NYU Law's Moot Court Board's flagship Art of Advocacy series examines advocacy through a personal lens, and aims to explore how legal practitioners, experts, and academics in the field have employed their personal strengths to become effective advocates. This installment features Stefen Short on civil rights advocacy. The session will be moderated and provide opportunity for Q&A.

Stefen Short is a Supervising Attorney at the Prisoners’ Rights Project of The Legal Aid Society, which challenges constitutional violations and unlawful conditions in jails and prisons in New York. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor with Pace University teaching courses such as Prisoners' Rights Law. Stefen Short previously worked as a Staff Attorney with Disability Rights New York. This event will focus on civil rights advocacy and movement lawyering, including the development of forms of advocacy through the pandemic.
