On August 1, the Senate unanimously confirmed Raymond Chen '94 to the U.S Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Judge Chen, who assumed his duties on August 5, is currently the youngest serving appellate court judge in the United States.
Since 2008, Chen had been the deputy general counsel for intellectual property law and solicitor for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. (USPTO). He first joined the USPTO in 1998, as an associate solicitor.
From 1996 to 1998, Chen was a technical assistant at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Previously, he worked as an associate at Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, a Californian intellectual property firm. Before attending NYU Law, Chen worked as a scientist at Hecker and Harriman from 1989 to 1991.
