NYU School of Law announced that Vice Dean Jeannie Forrest will serve as the next head of development and alumni relations, while also continuing as the architect of leadership initiatives. Effective immediately, Forrest's new title will be vice dean for development and leadership initiatives.
Forrest has been a key leader of the Law School for two decades. From 2002 to 2010, she served as assistant and then associate dean for development and alumni relations, overseeing the Law School’s advancement. Under her leadership, the Law School executed an ambitious capital campaign, surpassing its $400 million goal. After her tremendous success in development, Forrest became vice dean in 2010, with oversight of our student services offices, as well as alumni relations and special events. In that role, Forrest enhanced the quality of the student experience and increased interdepartmental communication and collaboration through the creation of a student leadership team. Her efforts resulted in new systems and programming to improve the academic advising, career counseling, and wellness support services for our students.
In addition to overseeing student services, over the past several years Forrest has been instrumental in launching the Law School’s leadership programs, which this year will include a workshop for incoming students at 1L orientation, among other offerings. As vice dean for development and leadership initiatives, she will continue to shepherd the Law School’s existing leadership initiatives and to implement a range of new programs.
In making this announcement, Dean Trevor Morrison also thanked the members of the Law School’s Board of Trustees who led the search for the new head of development: Kenneth Raisler '76, Florence Davis '79, Charles Klein '63, and David Tanner '84, as well as administrators who served on the search committee: Assistant Dean for Communications Rebekah Carmichael, Chief of Staff Julie Ehrlich, and Executive Director of Development and Campaigns Nick Vagelatos.
