Law & Social Entrepreneurship at NYU

Social entrepreneurship encompasses a range of activities combining innovative business principles with public interest goals, including impact investing, social purpose ventures, and nonprofits. These pursuits are opening up new ways to alleviate poverty while encouraging business leaders and investors to promote the greater good. NYU Law seeks to train the next generation of lawyers who will work in and shape this emerging field, bridging the gap between its widely renowned programs in Law & Business and Public Interest law.

Students interested in social entrepreneurship can combine more traditional training in corporate, securities, and tax law with specialized courses in community development, microfinance and others. The Social Enterprise & Startup Law Group manages a number of extracurricular projects aimed at providing hands on experience in transactional law, while the Public Interest Law Center supports numerous internship opportunities for summer work with social entrepreneurs and related organizations.
